Settings Breakdown

You need to know who everything is and how far away it is.
Turning any of this off is just removing information you already have access to.

Signature values tell you how detectable you are. That matters more than people think.

Velocity indicator though? That one is critical. It tells you what direction you are actually moving, not where your nose is pointing. If you’re not using that, you’re basically flying blind.

Advanced HUD On In SCM — Optional

  • No is my personal preference.
  • Reduces clutter during dogfights and racing.
  • Cleaner visuals usually means better tracking and faster reactions.
  • Some people prefer it on for information or VOD review.

Advanced HUD On In NAV — Optional

  • Yes is my personal preference.
  • Gives clear fuel information in NAV mode.
  • Useful for awareness, but not critical.

Prefers Labels — Optional

  • Just use whatever is easiest for you to read quickly.

Course Prediction On — No

  • Adds visual noise without giving meaningful value in combat.

Velocity Indicator — Always On (Non-Negotiable)

  • This shows your actual movement vector.
  • It is one of the most important pieces of information in flight.
  • You will use this constantly once you understand it.

Show (Party/Friendly/Neutral/Hostile/Distance) — Yes (to all)

  • Show Party Nameplate
  • Show Friendly Contact Nameplate
  • Show Neutral/Hostile Contact Nameplate
  • Show Contact Distance

You want full identification and distance information at all times.

Display Signature Values — Yes

  • Lets you understand how detectable you are.
  • Also helps diagnose issues with your ship.
